Advice on Working Out

Want to eat two pieces of pie? Fine, but plan on working out a little harder the next day. Exercise is the magical activity that burns those extra calories you love. You may not lose weight in the next three months, but exercise can keep you from gaining it.

First you have to motivate yourself. Mary J. Blige has that covered. Get yourself out the door: Sleep in your workout clothes; schedule your workout on your calendar; choose an accountability partner; and most of all, put yourself in the car and go to the gym. Still need some motivation? How about compositing your ideal body: Jennifer Aniston abs and Michelle Obama’s arms. Cornell McClellan details how to get those Obama triceps at oprah.com. Mandy Ingber, Aniston’s yoga instructor, sells DVD’s that will help you get those awesome abs. How great is that – you don’t even have to leave the house!

Finally, if you’ve just gotta drop five pounds in a week, Valerie Waters has the answer.

  • Exercise every other day
  • Ditch bloating foods: alcohol, carbs, diet soda, frozen diet foods.
  • Eat lean protein, berries, and fresh veggies
  • Drink 8 – 10 cups of water daily
