How do you stay sane while traveling? This is especially important for the Thanksgiving holiday, one of the most traveled days of the year. Capricia Marshall, U.S. Chief of protocol, uses the motto “Fail to plan, plan to fail.” If you have to check a bag, be sure to pack at least one day’s worth of supplies in your carry-on: deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, underwear, sleepwear, etc. The last time I failed to do that, my luggage got lost for 2 days straight! It can be challenging with TSA toiletry restrictions, but remember, those only apply to liquids. Solid soap, deodorant, paper products, moistened wipes, all are excluded. Check out the latest TSA restrictions here.
Also, consider making a Plan B or C. When my husband and I traveled to Vegas for vacation, we had planned a full day of activities, expecting to arrive at 11:00 AM. Instead we arrived at 4:00 PM, and I fell asleep halfway through the Penn and Teller show. I wish we had planned to just relax on our first day.
